Clitheroe Walks Project

Clitheroe the Future has identified the potential to develop self guided circular walks based from Clitheroe. It is working with Lancashire Countryside Service, Ribble Valley Borough Council and Lancashire Rural Futures to:

• Improve the infrastructure and waymarking of the core Public Rights of Way network in and around Clitheroe for the community who regularly use it for family walking/dog walking etc.
• To improve the accessibility where possible for all potential footpath users.
• Promote a series of walks for use by visitors and locals which would link Clitheroe with its surrounding countryside and villages.
• Encourage the use of local hostelries, shops, cafes, accommodation providers etc. by both locals and visitors to the area.

Volunteers from Clitheroe the Future have started surveying the Public Rights of Way network with guidance from Lancashire Countryside Service.

Clitheroe Circular Walks Leaflets Now Available

The publication of four circular walks have been completed and are available from the Clitheroe Tourist Information Office or the town Library. Circular walk 1 - Edisford Bridge to Brungerley Bridge, distance 2 Miles / 3 Kilometers.
Circular walk 2 - Brungerley Bridge to Grindelton Bridge via West Bradford Bridge, distance 5 Miles / 8 Kilometers.
Circular walk 3 - Edisford Bridge to Little Mitton, distance 4 Miles / 7 Kilometers.
Circular walk 4 - Castle Grounds to Standen Hey community woodland, distance 4 Miles / 7 kilometers.
